This Georgian Revival-influenced home was built in 1940 at 3107 19th St. for Arch Underwood, head of a vast cotton warehouse and compress network in West Texas.
Ashlar stone was specially milled for the house, which is only one-room deep to utilize cross ventilation by prevailing winds.
The Underwood family welcomed into their home several noteworthy guests, including President Harry Truman and U.S. Rep. George Mahon, D-Lubbock.
