The United Spirit Arena
The United Spirit Arena, 1701 Indiana Ave., is the home of the Texas Tech men's and women's basketball teams and the women's volleyball team.

The 15,020-seat multi-purpose arena also is the site of Tech and local high school graduation ceremonies and top concerts. Groundbreaking for the $62 million facility was held on March 27, 1997, and the building opened on Nov. 20, 1999.

United Supermarkets was the major contributor of the fundraising effort for the facility.

The first basketball game was played on Nov. 19, 1999, between Tech and the University of Indiana, which was coached by Bob Knight who would later become Tech's head basketball coach.

The first concert in the arena was by Elton John on Feb. 8, 2000. The building also houses offices for Tech's men's and women's basketball staffs.
