Armstrong Miniature Golf - 1946 |
This is a picture of the concession stand at Armstrong Miniature Golf course at about Summer 1945 or 1946. I went to work there for Jo Armstrong in July 1944. She had acquired the property in a divorce settlement. I worked there as Asst. Manager, cashier, and archery instructor until I graduated from Lubbock High School in May, 1947.
In addition she had an archery range, a dart course and the miniature golf. It was very popular with the Airmen from SPAAF lock where Reese is now. The course was on what was College Ave. between 16th and 19th. She sold it for a large sum and moved with her second husband to Corpus.Christi.
Some of my favorite days of my teen age years were wpent there. She had a niece named Evalyn Davis and a girl named Cornelia as well as a young man named Frank. That is all of the names I remember.
