Martin Shoe Repair - 1925

This picture of Thomas Houston (Tom) Martin was made in front of his shoe repair business.

His shop was in the back of the building on the southease corner of Broadway and Ave. H. The building was a brick building with two floors. On the ground floor was the Popular Price Dept. Store. The second floor was a hotel. The lattice work in the picture was the entry to the second floor. In the back ground is the south side of the courthouse. This picture would have been made in about 1925.

To the south across the east/west alley was a wooden two story rooming house. The Martin's operated it at one time. They moved to Lubbock in 1923 from Memphis, Texas and moved to Memphis from East Texas.

Mr. Martin was born in Lindale, near Tyler, Texas in 1879. The dog's name was Fido.
