19th district elects first rep
1934 George H. Mahon, youthful district attorney of Colorado City, yesterday was selected by an overwhelming vote as the first representative from the newly-created nineteenth congressional district.
On the basis of returns from 24 of the 25 counties in the district 18 of which were complete, Mahon had piled up a lead of 16,276 votes over Judge Clark M. Mullican of Lubbock.
Mullican conceded his defeat early in the evening.
Latest returns gave Mahon 34,974, Mullican 18,699.
The bank's quarters will occupy the basement and the first and second floors, comprising approximately 20,000 square feet of the 20-story insurance company building. The main money vault will be in the basement where the bank's safety deposit vault also will be located along with two commercial teller windows and storage for records and supplies.
